Logic Pro X Export Music Score As PDF

How to export a music score from Logic Pro X as a PDF

First, select the track and make sure that all sections are highlighted in that track. If only a few of them are highlighted, the quickest way to highlight all of them is to click on a different track and then click back on the track you intend to export.

Join all of the sections so that it is all in one block.

Click on the score tab to see the full score for that track.

Go to file, then print.

Open the arrow next to PDF and select "Save as PDF"

Selected Midi Section Not Showing Up In The Midi Editor

Logic Pro X: Selected Midi Section Not Showing Up In The Midi Editor

When selecting the midi section, I noticed that it was not showing up in the piano roll editor below. I needed this in order to shift my notes around, but if I tried selecting something else and then clicking on that section again, the editor below was ignoring this and was stuck on another midi section.

In order to get the midi to show up in the piano scroll editor below, first look at the editor under piano roll. There are a few icons that you can turn on and off. The one that you want to make sure is turned on is the yellow one with two circles that are linked.

Here is an image of that icon:

Logic Pro X Automation Not Working

Logic Pro X Automation Grayed Out

When I was working on one of my compositions, I noticed that the volume levels were not changing when I adjusted the automation within the track. The track had a gray line for the automation which means that this has been turned off. See the picture below:

To get this to turn yellow again and to make your automation turned on, you'll need to show your mixer at the bottom of the page. Then look at any tracks that have a grayed out "Read". Those are the tracks that are turned off, any that are green are turned on.

To turn these back on again, hover your mouse over read and then you will see a circular switch (on/off) that appears next to read. This is the switch that can turn your automation on and off. Not sure why Apple only added this feature within the mixer but not the track. Kind of stupid. Anyways, hopefully this explanation helps!

How To Get Midi Loops with Logic Pro

How to get Apple loops in Midi format rather than waveform format:

With the screenshot below, you'll notice that the first loop on the list has a blue icon with a soundwave on it. These are only waveforms. The green icon with the note on it, however can show up as both a waveform and midi when you drag it over to your track area. I noticed that when I clicked on the green icon, held the mouse button down, and dragged that over to the track area, it shows up as a midi file. If I tried clicking over the name or anything else on that row, it would show up as a waveform. Try dragging the green icon and see if that works for you. That's how I've been getting my midi notes from Logic Pro's loops.

iMovie Export to Youtube Error

Recently I ran into this error when exporting my music video from iMovie to Youtube. After looking up a few solutions online, I had determined that this was caused by Youtube, not iMovie. To get around this issue, don't share from iMovie. When you go to share your movie with iMovie, instead of sharing with youtube, share/save this as a file to your documents. Once you get the message that your file as successfully been made, go to youtube and upload your video there. I've tried it and this works!

Trouble Grouping Songs Under One Album In iTunes

Sometimes you might notice that when you import an album to iTunes, the songs are not always grouped together. This annoyance is usually caused by a slight difference in some of the info of each track. For example, let's take Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape" album. The artist for the "Sweet Escape" song is Gwen Stefani Feat. Akon.

The other songs in this album may only have Gwen Stefani listed as the main artist.  This is one of the causes to why your songs are not grouped together in one album. A simple hack to get around this is to select multiple tracks and change the info so that everything is matching. For more information on how to do this, please see my blog post: "Editing The Artist or Album Name for Multiple Tracks in Itunes"

Editing The Artist or Ablum Name for Multiple Tracks in iTunes

I hate having to edit the artist name and album name for each track that I import to iTunes. It's a real pain. I found the answer to my question:

How do you edit the artist name or album name (or both) for each song that you add to iTunes? There has to be a faster way to do this!

Here is how you can edit multiple tracks (or songs) in Itunes:

1) If your tracks are all together in one spot, hold down the shift key from the first song in the list to the last one. If your tracks have other tracks mixed in between them on the list, then select each track individually with the command key.

2) Then right click (on a mac, you tap two fingers at once on the track pad) and choose "Get Info". Another shortcut to get here is to hit the command key + I

3) This window will pop up: "Are you sure you want to edit information for multiple items?"

4) Click the "Edit Items" Button.

5) A window will pop up with a list of items that look like they are grayed out (or read only), but you can actually edit these fields.

6) Click "OK" and now you have your tracks with the artist name. Problem solved!
